ZAPPY-Friendly' City in Norway

SEBASTOPOL, Calif., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- ZAPPYĆ electric scooters have been winning over new fans daily, some as far away as Kragero, Norway where the city council has even considered making their town ``ZAPPY Friendly.''

The ZAPPY, made by electric vehicle pioneer ZAPWORLD.COM (OTC Bulletin Board: ZAPP - news), is a folding electric scooter that you ride while standing. First introduced in 1998, ZAP has delivered more than 20,000 of the electric scooters to commuters and thrill-seekers all over the world. They like the ZAPPY because it uses quiet, clean electric power and folds for easy carrying or storage.

Norwegians John Cheetham and Terje Bakke are helping introduce the ZAPPY to Norway. They learned about the electric scooter while vacationing in California where they rented one from the ZAPWORLD Store in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf. They enjoyed the scooter so much that they made the trip to ZAP headquarters in nearby Sebastopol and left a few days later with a distribution agreement to bring the product to Scandinavia. Since their return home, they have been showing the ZAPPY around and the response has been positive.

"We took the ZAPPY to the City Council meeting, to make sure they were first to hear the news," said Cheetham. "We asked the Mayor what she would do to make Kragero ZAPPY-friendly with access to bicycle paths and the construction of charging stations. She was of course very surprised, but said that she would look into the case. The local paper followed up the story, and there has been much positive discussion of the ZAPPY."

Cheetham said that Norwegian television networks and magazines are running stories on the ZAPPY. Cheetham and Bakke are setting up to market ZAP scooters and bikes under the name CityZapper.com and have signed a distribution contract with a $200,000 initial order to be the exclusive supplier of ZAP electric vehicles to Scandinavia, including Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. He says that many tourists visit Kragero during the summer and plans to offer rentals to help spur on acceptance of ZAP products. The population of Kragero is 10,000 but more than doubles in size during the summer.
