Letter to Tomorrow's World
BBC's Tomorrow's World science and technology programme rarely if ever reports on long range EV's that are already being driven by a few thousand determined US citizens. (note petrol in US still costs just 95 pence per gallon) Jim Carlucci sent them the following thoughts:
Why do you so rarely IF EVER look at high-performance, long-range PRODUCTION electric vehicles like the
120-mile-percharge NISSAN ALTRA or the 160 mile-per-charge Gen II GM EV1 which scandalously are only available in
the US - 'scandalous' - since by any definition the UK and Europe are THE logical marketplace for
emission-free/petrol-tax-free vehicles with real range and speed????
Is the British media under general orders not
to 'talk up' these zero-emission vehicles for fear of undermining still further an already stagnant car
market? (...SOooo sad!)..
These emission-free vehicles are being produced TODAY - so please Tomorrow's World people, let's stop
the defiant 'TOP GEAR-style' King Canute act, lift the virtual EV-taboo and regain some integrity by showcasing
some non-prototype, real EV's that the media, politicians and UK carmakers seem so desperate to keep from these shores and from the eyes of the public.
